There are three programs in Routt County that help tenants with their energy/heating bills in times of need:

2. Colorado Dept of Human Services
   • https://cdhs.colorado.gov/leap
   • LEAP is designed to help low-income households with their primary winter home heating costs. This program operates from November 1 through April 30 each year. LEAP is not intended to pay the entire cost of home heating.

There are a number of ways to get food assistance in Routt County.

1. The local food bank is Liftup Routt County https://liftuprc.org/what-we-do/food-banks/
   • Food Banks located in Steamboat Springs and Oak Creek are available to Routt County residents with an income of 300% or lower of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). LiftUp of Routt County also has a Grab ‘N Go section in each Food Bank for anyone who walks in during open hours and Rocket Pack healthy snacks for school-aged children.

2. Food Assistance (SNAP):
   • Food Assistance provides supplemental assistance to help low-income individuals and families purchase food. Benefits are based on household composition, income, and resources of all household members.

3. Northwest Colorado Health offers the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program (https://northwestcoloradohealth.org/what_we_do/prevention-services/programs-for-moms-and-families/women-infants-and-children-wic.html).
   • WIC is a free nutrition program for women, children, and families who live in Colorado and meet certain income requirements. Services include nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and supplemental healthy foods.

4. Routt County Council on Aging, https://www.rccoaging.org/home/
   • Eat and Greets
     • Hosted in Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek and Hayden. The recommended donation for meals is $3.00 for those 60 years and better. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance and can be made at (970) 879-0633 Ext. 4.
   • Meals on Wheels
     • Any senior 60 years and better can receive a hot, delicious meal delivered to their door. The recommended donation for meals is $3.00 for those 60 and better. Reservations are required one week in advance and can be made at (970) 879-0633. Frozen meals are also available.
