Press Release: Yampa Valley Housing Authority Welcomes Laraine Martin as Communications and Community Engagement Manager
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – March 31, 2026 —
The Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Laraine Martin as its new Communications and Community Engagement Manager, further strengthening the organization’s commitment to connecting with the community and advancing housing solutions across Routt County.
Martin brings more than a decade of leadership and community-focused experience in Northwest Colorado. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Routt County Riders, where she worked closely with partners at the local, state, and federal levels to advance outdoor recreation, transportation, and public lands initiatives. Under her leadership, the organization experienced significant growth, including the successful development of a multi-jurisdictional project that secured nearly $3 million in funding and expanded access to public lands.
Prior to her role at Routt County Riders, Martin held positions with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and the Friends of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, where she led community outreach efforts, coordinated large-scale events, and managed education programs.
In her new role at YVHA, Martin will lead communications strategy, community outreach, and public engagement efforts, helping to ensure that residents, partners, and stakeholders are informed, involved, and connected to the organization’s work.
“We are excited to have Laraine join the YVHA team,” said Elliot Lawrence, Deputy Director of YVHA. “Her experience working in Steamboat Springs for more than a decade adds to the depth of expertise we have on our staff. Her knowledge of the community and our housing challenges is a real asset to our team.”
Martin’s background in coalition-building, public engagement, and mission-driven work aligns closely with YVHA’s role as a multi-jurisdictional housing authority serving the region.
“I’m thrilled to join YVHA at such an important time for our community,” said Martin. “Housing is foundational to a thriving community, and I look forward to helping tell the story of this work, engaging residents, and supporting solutions that ensure Routt County remains a place where people can live and work.”
Martin holds a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and French from the University of Miami. She is also an active member of Routt County Search and Rescue and brings a deep personal commitment to the Yampa Valley community.
