Press Release: Release of The Cottonwoods Homeownership Pre-Screening Form
Yampa Valley Housing Authority Announces Release of Homeownership Pre-Screening Form – Starting Point to Determine Eligibility to Buy at The Cottonwoods at Mid Valley
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO, July 8, 2025 — The Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA) is pleased to release The Cottonwoods Homeownership Pre-Screening Form. This is the starting point to determine whether an applicant is eligible to buy one of the deed-restricted condos at The Cottonwoods.
By completing the form with accurate and up-to-date information, the prospective buyer helps YVHA understand the household size, income, and other important details that determine eligibility to purchase a deed-restricted condo. Once submitted, a comprehensive application management system will review the information to determine whether the prospective buyer qualifies for the current homeownership opportunities.
If the prospective buyer meets basic eligibility requirements, they will be invited to complete the full application. Eligible applicants will then be invited to participate in a weighted lottery for available units. Details on the lottery process and final pricing are expected later in summer 2025.
“As the Housing Navigator at YVHA, a first-time home buyer, and the first person in my family to own a home, I am particularly excited about the launch of the Homeownership Pre-Screening Form. This is the first step one can take to achieve the dream of home ownership and do so in Steamboat Springs.” said Araceli Googins, Housing Navigator, YVHA.
“The Cottonwoods at Mid Valley is the first for-ownership development we have launched since Fox Creek Village in 2006. YVHA is proud to offer this property as an opportunity to convert renters to buyers. We expect to provide details on the lottery process and below market pricing, made possible with support from the City of Steamboat Springs and the Colorado Division of Housing, later this summer.” said Alyssa Cartmill, Sales and Asset Manager, YVHA.
