Statement: Yampa Valley Housing Authority (YVHA) on Discovery Land Company’s Stagecoach Mountain Ranch Project
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – After Discovery Land Company’s presentation to the Stagecoach Property Owner’s Association (SPOA) on Monday night, the Yampa Valley Housing Association (YVHA) has received fact checking inquiries about Discovery Land Company’s assertion that they are in an agreement with YVHA to manage their 140 affordable housing units. The following is a statement from YVHA’s Executive Director, Jason Peasley in response.
“YVHA has no relationship with Discovery Land Company. I was surprised to hear them say that YVHA would oversee their affordable housing.
Our YVHA district boundaries, and therefore our taxing district, do not include South Routt and Stagecoach. However, we do offer services outside of our district boundaries such as down payment assistance to households throughout Routt County. We have had initial conversations with Routt County’s Planning Department about being able to administer deed restrictions for new affordable housing units that may be developed in unincorporated Routt County as required by the County’s newly adopted Unified Development Code.
YVHA exists to provide housing solutions for our community by addressing housing availability, stability, affordability and mobility. We specialize in creating public/private partnerships that deliver the housing our community needs and will continue to do so in the future as our community grows and changes.”
